❓ Did you know that there's a lot of misinformation out there about celiac disease? I want to spread some awareness and clarify some of those popular myths for those interested in learning more about #celiacdisease. The first myth is that Celiac disease is a food allergy. It's actually not an allergy and instead is an autoimmune disease where the body produces antibodies that attack and destroy the cell lining of the small intestines. The second myth is Celiac disease only affects the gut. The truth is that it can cause wide spread problems that go far beyond the gut because the immune cells leave the gut and fight against the rest of the body in different ways. It can cause anemia, malnutrition, fatigue, anxiety, migraines, arthritis and much more. The third myth is that celiac disease is a curable condition.
Unfortunately, there is no cure—once you have it, you will always have it. Although there isn't a cure, there are ways to make living with it more manageable. The best way of all, is to follow a strict gluten-free diet 🥖 I recently found these @scharglutenfree sandwich rolls and they make following a #glutenfree diet easier because they taste exactly like my favorite sub shop rolls but have all the benefits of being wheat free, gluten free, dairy free and preservative free!
